THE WORD
And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever—the Spirit of truth.

Topic: Knowledge is Power

Text: Hosea 4:6

Success in every area of life depends solely on the depth of knowledge you have in that area. Until you have a unique and proper knowledge of what you are doing, you cannot succeed. In Hosea 4:6, God says “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge…” The emphasis is on “my people” i.e. children of God, not unbelievers. God is not happy when his children are ignorant. Their lack of knowledge allows the enemy to cheat them of their blessings. The devil knows the importance of knowledge. That is why he tries to keep you busy with one thing because he knows you can’t do much about other things that you have no knowledge of. The devil is not concerned about how often you go to church, rather how much of the word you know, because it is the word of God not your regular attendance or participation in church that gives you power to overcome the enemy. You can’t know and apply what is written in the word without studying it.

In Mark 11:23, Jesus says that whatever you say with your mouth and believe in your heart will come to pass. You must be careful not to say or do anything that will have a positive effect on you because the devil capitalizes on your fears. The mere knowledge of the supernatural world will not bring about its manifestation. The cardinal step is the release of the supernatural is a proof of sound based if the word of God. This is because a soundless Christian is a sign less Christian. The bible says in John 3:8 that the wind when blowing is distinct even though you may not know where it is coming from or going to. So also, as a child of God, you should have a distinct sound. Every time you speak, your spiritual mouth with which you think and your physical mouth with which you talk must be in agreement otherwise you become a liar. Remember that the power of life and death is in the tongue.

Also in John 10: 34-35, God says he has made us gods. Therefore, just like God himself calls things that are not as though they were, we also can do the same. This means that nothing dies until you kill it with your mouth. What have you spoken into your marriage, health, situation, children, finances and future? Is it life or death? Confess positive things about yourself and situation always. The Shunammite woman in II Kings 4: 20-37 refused to say with her mouth that her son was dead even though in reality he was. She continued to confess that all was well and in the end she got her miracle because God used Elijah to bring her son back to life. To be realistic is to be negative. However as children of God, as soon as we get born again he makes provision for us so that we don’t have to toil hard before getting results. If you have the knowledge of the God you know his word, you will not be afraid. Continue to confess positive even though things don’t look right because we walk by faith and not by sight.

Finally, be your brother’s keeper. Correct other believers in love when they are being pessimistic and encourage them to always confess positively about their situation. Don’t ridicule others because of their level of faith, rather encourage them.
